Bartender Training Course
This concept piece was inspired by service skills in the workplace. With one of my first jobs being in the food and drink industry, I focused on the importance of quickly and efficiently locating the date of birth and expiration date on a customer’s ID before selling them alcohol.
Many Instructional Design concepts were used in the creation of this project. I scaffolded learning with preview simulations before bringing in customers, allowed navigation and exploration in the ID sections, and provided an accessibility-friendly intro video to outline learning objectives.
Client: Concept piece for bartenders
My Tasks Instructional Design & Development
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro.
Storyboarding: Before & After
I storyboard the project as the initial stage of design in order to work out ideas and get feedback from stakeholders. This stage is also important when working on teams, as a project may change hands from an Instructional Designer to a Content Developer. Clear and organized instructions help in communicating the overall goals of each slide.
Video Intro
Originally, the project began with the following information in slide form. However, I wanted to limit the number of slides the learner had to navigate and instead add more dimensionality to the project. An intro video demonstrates multiple facets of the workplace while communicating the learning objectives of this training.
