Article #6: How to Write a Course Description that Converts: 13 Tips and Best Practices - By Helen Colman
How long it took to read?: 15 mins
Who is it for?: Anyone who struggles with writing succinct course descriptions.
What I took from this article: I don't know about you, but a course description is one of the last items I think about before publishing. It's usually at this time that I sit at my chair, staring blankly at the screen, attempting to come up with a way to sum up all my work in 2 sentences. It's a tough thing to write effective course descriptions. This article lays out 13 key points to walk you through the process, along with examples and a Dos and Don't category. I appreciated the author's emphasis on transparency as I wouldn't want to take a course thinking it was one thing and then 20 mins later logging out because it didn't deliver what it promised. First impressions are important and a course description is often the only chance to hook potential learners. So, make sure you give yourself the best chance to capture their interest.
