Episode 16 - Luis Malbas

Listen to the whole episode here:

Luis Malbas is on a mission to change the world through digital media, community, and education. With a background in technology, marketing, and media, he has been working in Learning and Development for nearly twenty years. He founded The Training, Learning, and Development Community in 2016, working to promote diversity, inclusion, and equity in L&D.

Here are the scenarios Luis and I discuss:

1) Before now, you haven’t really found networking useful (As an adjunct teaching night class, this used

to be me). However, you’ve heard more and more about the benefits within L and D of developing a

community. What advice would you offer to someone who wants to get started in making connections?

2) Imagine you want to start an online community, similar to the TLDC, focused on online webinars.

What steps should you take to ensure that the venture is successful?

3) You’ve probably heard about some questionable “Influencers” in our field. People that offer magic

bullets but don’t have much experience or are just copy and pasting answers from other places. How do

you concentrate on filtering out all the noise out there and instead, focus on the value?
