My guest this week is John HinchCliff. He’s an internationally recognized multi-award-winning digital learning expert with over 15 years in the industry. He’s the Head of Engagement at Jam Pan, The Global L&D Services Provider trusted by some of the biggest companies in the world. He is also the founder of the Global Learning and Development Community (or the GLDC). He’s been named a Top 30 Trailblazing Thought leader by eLearningIndustry.com and he won the Learning Giveback Silver Award at the LPI Learning Awards.

John was presented with these challenges:

1) Instructional Design has received more attention lately and a larger pool of applicants than in previous years. However, Instructional Design can have a steep learning curve and as supply for IDs becomes more available, the qualifications are getting harder to meet. Why do you think people are flocking to this role and what other alternatives are out there for starting in the learning and development field?

2) You want to develop a brand for yourself, something dependable and what people will know you for. When people think “John” they say “Oh yeah! John can do…” How do you go about figuring out your brand and how to market it to others?

3) You want to create something that is your own (a course, a webinar, a group) but you don’t know exactly how to do that or how to get people interested in your content. What steps would you take to plan out a creation of your own?
